Driven athletes go Against the Grain.
Help your mental game so you can elevate the rest of your game
This isn’t therapy.
No shots at therapy (because everyone knows that the world would be better if more folks had access to counseling)! But sometimes… therapy isn’t exactly what you need as an athlete - it just misses the mark for the problems you’re working through.
Your therapist probably:
Hasn’t ever competed in sport at a high level
Doesn’t speak the same sports language as you
Might not understand why you struggle to prioritize time to meet with them when you’re scheduling them around practice, tournaments, recovery, and time in the gym...
You’re not alone! Mental performance coaching is helping your brain and body connect so that you see and act on the bigger picture. So if you’re working through some mental blocks in your performance, but therapy hasn’t helped you figure out how to perform as an athlete, this might be what you’re looking for.
So then… What is Mental Performance?
Habit building
Managing competition anxiety
Visualization tactics
Defining your identity
Breathwork
Mindfulness work
Self-confidence
Similar to the way that physical fitness training can depend a lot on your injury history, your weakness, and the demands of your life, so can mental training! There is no cookie cutter, exact replica of mental training that works precisely for one person the same as it does for another. The only thing that works is what works for you.

Meet Your Coach
As a life-long competitor and long-time coach, Coach Maeve knows a thing or two about gaining the competitive edge. She’s played just about everything, from Irish Dance to soccer, Olympic Weightlifting to rugby, and a sport or two in between. Coach Maeve believes that when you spend the time to intentionally work on your mental practice, it impacts your mindset, your sport, and your life, and she backs up all of her work with scientifically backed practices.
We don’t believe that the professional sunlight photo of the coach smiling with the arms crossed tells you anything about who a person is. Particularly as a coach of mentality, we want to make sure that we encourage you to show up as your authentic self… So here’s Coach Maeve wearing a narwhal onesie.
We also don’t believe that letters after your name give you any guarantee of the ability to connect with athletes… but in case you’re into that sort of thing, here are some of the letters after Coach Maeve’s name:
MSW (Master of Social Work), The Ohio State University,
BS (Bachelor of Science) - Brain and Cognitive Science, University of Rochester
CSCS,*D (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with Distinction)
RPR (Reflexive Performance Reset), Level Two
USAW (USA Weightlifting), Level Two
Precision Nutrition (Pn1), Level One

CMPC (Certified Mental Performance Consultant) - In Progress
